At the PGA TOUR’s annual tournament meetings, PGA TOUR Canada announced Wednesday the CentrePort Canada RailPark Manitoba Open is its 2022 Tournament of the Year.

PGA Tour Canada Commissioner Scott Pritchard on the tour coming back to Ottawa next summer, playing at Eagle Creek and partnering with Commissionaires and Soldier On for the tournament.

PGA TOUR Canada announced Tuesday that PGA TOUR-sanctioned professional golf is returning to the nation’s capital city in 2023, with the Commissionaires Ottawa Open, an official Fortinet Cup tournament. Eagle Creek Golf Club is the host site of the 72-hole medal play event set for July 17-23. While it is the first time Tour players will visit Eagle Creek, the Tour has previously held four tournaments in the city, between 2013 and 2017.

On Sunday, the PGA TOUR Canada’s flagship event—the Fortinet Cup Championship—came to a close at Deer Ridge Golf Club, a tournament that brought together world-class golfers to ultimately determine the winner of the Fortinet Cup. Canadian Wil Bateman won the Fortinet Cup and captured Player of the Year honors by 537 points over American Jake Knapp, thanks, in part, to Bateman’s victory in the season-ending Fortinet Cup Championship.

Bateman shot a final-round 1-under 69 Sunday at Deer Ridge Golf Club to defeat Jeffrey Kang by two strokes. In the process, Bateman won the Fortinet Cup, finishing with 1,654 points and vaulting past Jake Knapp, who entered the week with the standings lead. It was quite the double dip.

Walsh is on the cusp of winning the Fortinet Cup Championship and securing once again Korn Ferry Tour membership. At 11-under through 54 holes, he holds a four-shot lead over Wil Bateman at Deer Ridge Golf Club.

Thomas Walsh and Scott Stevens waged an epic battle in the second round of the Fortinet Cup Championship at the Deer Ridge Golf Club. So good was the competition that Walsh and Stevens are scheduled to play together again on Saturday.

Trent Phillips approached the start of the Fortinet Cup Championship without any expectations. Battling sickness, he hasn’t felt well at all since arriving at PGA TOUR Canada’s season finale. Outside of playing in the pro-am, he hasn’t done that much this week to prepare for the tournament.
