The San Francisco 49ers released former CFL star Eric Rogers on Tuesday after the wide receiver missed the entire 2016 season with an injury.

After leading the CFL in receiving yards during the 2015 campaign as member of the Calgary Stampeders, Rogers took his talents down South and signed a contract with the 49ers. However, the 26-year-old tore his ACL during training camp and was sidelined for the entire year.

A native of Glendora, California, Rogers caught 87 passes for 1448 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2015 with the Stamps.

With Rogers back on the open market, his former quarterback in Calgary, Bo Levi Mitchell, took to Twitter in attempt to persuade Rogers back to the Stampeders.

Safety Marcus Ball, who won a Grey Cup with the Toronto Argonauts in 2012, was also released by San Francisco on Tuesday.
