Montreal Alouettes centre Dominic Picard announced his retirement Friday.

The 33-year-old is hanging them up after 151 games over 10 seasons, three team nominations for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, and a Grey Cup.

"We should be celebrating Dominic's career," Alouettes GM and head coach Jim Popp said in a team release. "Unfortunately things didn't work out as planned with us. It's never easy when a seasoned veteran announces his retirement, but we have to remember him for his accomplished career. He was a hard-nosed, poised and committed competitor. Although it was for a short stint, we really enjoyed having Dominic as a part of our organization the last few months."

Picard signed with the Alouettes this off-season after spending last year with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The veteran centre started his career in Winnipeg before stops with the Toronto Argonauts and Saskatchewan Roughriders, helping the Roughriders hoist the Grey Cup in 2013.
