Henoc Muamba's days with the Montreal Alouettes are over. After engaging in trade talks with three teams for the Canadian linebacker as recently as Monday night, the Als have released the Canadian linebacker, TSN's Gary Lawless confirms. The news was first reported by Herb Zurkowsky of the Montreal Gazette.

Three teams were talking to the Als about trading for Muamba as recently as Monday night but there could have been some reluctance to take on the 26-year-old's salary cap hit and bonus.

And while there will be plenty of interest in Muamba as a free agent, the St. FX product may take the opportunity to work out for some NFL teams again, according to Zurkowsky.

Muamba appeared in four games for the Alouettes in 2015 after signing with the team in September.

He spent the 2014 season with the Indianapolis Colts, producing six tackles in 13 games before being released.

Muamba spent the first three seasons of his CFL career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
