Paris, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Americans Sam Querrey and Jack Sock were first-round winners on Monday at the $3.7 million Paris Masters.

Querrey, a qualifier, knocked off Jerzy Janowicz 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-4 and Sock was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Pablo Andujar.

Fellow American Donald Young was ousted by Fernando Verdasco in a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 loss.

Among the other winners at the final tournament of the regular season was Philipp Kohlschreiber, who lost just four games against Edouard Roger-Vasselin to set up a second-round meeting with No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

The two-time champion Djokovic beat then reigning champ David Ferrer in last year's final.

Also earning wins Monday were Julien Benneteau, Jurgen Melzer, Adrian Mannarino, Santiago Giraldo, Dominic Thiem and Richard Gasquet, who moved on when Denis Istomin retired down 4-0 in the third set.
