The PGA Championship at Baltusrol in Springfield, New Jersey will be played two weeks earlier than usual next year, according to the new 2015-16 PGA schedule that the Tour released on Thursday.

The move is being made to accommodate the playing of the Rio Olympic golf tournament, which falls on the same week in August on which the PGA is usually contested.

As a result, the season's final two majors will be played just two weeks apart - the British Open at Royal Troon from July 14-17 and the PGA Championship July 28-31.

The RBC Canadian Open will be played during the week between the two majors at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario.

The 47-event FedEx Cup schedule begins Oct. 12, 2015 with the Frys.com Open in Napa, California and closes September 25, 2016 with the Tour Championship in Atlanta. The Ryder Cup in Chaska, Minnesota will be played Sep. 30-Oct. 2.

The Travelers Championship and John Deere Classic are also being moved from their traditional dates to make room for the Olympic tournament.
