CALGARY - Veteran receiver Romby Bryant is retiring as a member of the Calgary Stampeders after signing a one-day contract with the CFL club on Monday.

Bryant played 60 regular-season games over four seasons between 2009 and 2012 for the Stampeders, recording 210 catches for 2,725 yards and 22 touchdowns as well as 16 carries for 46 yards and two TDs.

His best season came in 2010 as he made 77 receptions for 1,167 yards and 15 touchdowns. Bryant's touchdown total in 2010 remains the highest by a Stampeders receiver in the past 20 years and the third-best in franchise history.

"I would like to thank Huff (coach and general manager John Hufnagel) and the Stamps for giving me the opportunity to retire as a Stampeder," Bryant said in a statement. "I enjoyed my time there and loved playing for the Stamps and their fans.

"What I enjoyed more than anything was playing for a professional organization. My experience with the Stamps will always bring positive memories. I can honestly say they handled every situation in a professional manner."

The Oklahoma City native started his career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2008 and joined the Stamps in a Sept. 20, 2009 trade.

He finished his CFL career with one season in Toronto in 2013 and one season in Winnipeg in 2014. The 35-year-old finishes his CFL career with 331 receptions for 4,874 yards and 33 touchdowns.

One of Bryant's most memorable moments with the Stampeders was a 68-yard touchdown in the final minute of the 2012 Western semifinal as the Stamps rallied to defeat the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

"Romby was a talented and dependable playmaker," Hufnagel said in a statement. "He made a lot of big plays as a Stamp, possibly none bigger than the late fourth-quarter TD catch in the 2012 semifinal."
