Toronto Raptors forward DeMarre Carroll was officially listed as questionable for Game 6 against the Miami Heat by the team on Thursday.

Carroll incurred a wrist contusion in the team's 99-91 Game 5 victory on Wednesday night and left in the third quarter. Subsequent x-rays came back negative.

"Initially, I thought I broke it," Carroll told reporters on Thursday. "My whole wrist went numb, so I was like, 'Here we go again.' Eventually after a couple of minutes, the numbness went away, but it's sore. Once I got the MRI, I looked at my phone and we were only up by 1 and that really made me mad."

Carroll is hopeful of playing in Miami, noting that he's doing "any treatment you can name" to try to be ready.

"If it ain't broke, I'm ready to play," Carroll said. "We've been treating it and we're going to keep treating it when we get to Miami. It's all about how I can tolerate my pain, but I'm not 'Junkyard Dog' for nothing, so we'll see what happens."

Carroll was injured in last season's playoffs as a member of the Atlanta Hawks, spraining his knee in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final. Even with injuries in two straight postseasons, Carroll isn't discouraged.

"It happens," Carroll said. "That's the nature of the beast. That's basketball. I look at it as a couple of obstacles in my way, so I've just got to keep trying to improve. I can't worry about getting hurt because if I worry about getting hurt, that's when you lose it mentally."

In 12 playoff games this season, the 29-year-old Carroll has averaged 9.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals over 31.5 minutes a night. The team is already without centre Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) for the remainder of the series.

Game 6 goes Friday night at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. The Raptors lead the series 3-2.
