Austin Collie is hanging up his cleats.

The 32-year-old wide receiver informed the BC Lions on Wednesday of his intention to retire.

Collie, born in Hamilton, Ontario, spent last season with the Lions after a five-year National Football League career.

Taken in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Brigham Young, Collie spent four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.

Collie developed instant rapport with Peyton Manning, catching 60 passes for 676 yards and seven touchdowns in his rookie season. The Colts would go to the Super Bowl that year, but ultimately would fall 31-17 to the New Orleans Saints.

Collie would encounter concussion problems in his sophomore season that limited him to only nine games. After a full season in 2011, Collie was concussed again in the 2012 preseason and then ruptured the patellar tendon in his right knee in his first game back, ending his season.

After signing with and being released by the San Francisco 49ers, Collie caught on with the New England Patriots, appearing in seven games in the 2013 season.

In his only season with the Lions, Collie appeared in 16 games, making 72 catches for 439 yards and seven touchdowns.
