BC Lions linebacker Solomon Elimimian suffered a torn Achilles tendon Saturday night against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

A team release Sunday stated that he will undergo a procedure later this week and will be placed on the Lions' six-game injured list.

Elimimian, 28, has appeared in seven games with the Lions this season, registering 44 tackles and two sacks. He has amassed 447 tackles with 19 sacks over his CFL career.

A two-time All-Star and the CFL's 2014 Most Outstanding Player Award winner, Elimimian has played parts of six seasons with the Lions over two separate tenures with the club. He has been signed by NFL clubs three times - including the Buffalo Bills in 2009 and the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns in 2012 - but has never appeared in a regular season game.

He was a member of the Lions' 2011 Grey Cup Championship team.
