Defensive lineman Bryant Turner signed with the BC Lions for the upcoming season Wednesday.

The five-year international veteran was released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers alongside receiver Clarence Denmark late last month.

"Bryant is a veteran defensive tackle who brings a lot of skill, speed and experience to the line,” GM and head coach Wally Buono said in a team release. “He’s been an East Division and CFL All-Star in the past and he can play multiple positions, so he’ll bring both competition and depth to our defence for training camp.”

Turner recorded 89 tackles, 26 sacks, and five forced fumbles in 71 games with the Bombers over five seasons. The two-time East Division All-Star was also named a league All-Star in 2012.

“I’m very excited to be joining the Lions,” said Turner from his home in Alabama. “The coaching staff is what really impressed me and I have a ton of respect for guys like Solomon Elimimian and Adam Bighill. It will be great to play with those guys and do my part to help bring the defence up another notch and make a difference.”
