It's an end of an era in Calgary.

Longtime Calgary Stampeders slotback Nik Lewis has signed with the Montreal Alouettes.

"Thanks to Jim Popp for giving me another opportunity to play and win another Grey Cup. Looking forward to taking the field with my new team," the slotback tweeted.

Lewis has spent his entire 11-year career with the Stampeders, compiling 11,250 receiving yards and 65 touchdowns. The 32-year-old had been used less by the Stampeders in recent years, with his last two years the only two he didn't eclipse the 1,000-yard mark.

The fan favourite finished with 377 receiving yards and was help without a receiving touchdown for the first time in his career.

"Nik is another piece of the puzzle to an outstanding receiving corps for 2015," Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said. "His body of work speaks for itself and his style of play is very difficult to defend. We feel he adds a twist that every team in the CFL wish they could have."

He also took to Twitter to thank the organization and Stampeders' fans.

"I would like to say thank you to all the Stampeders fans, coaches, and management for a wonderful 11 yrs. Truly a magical ride," Lewis tweeted.

The Alouettes added another receiver in Dobson Collins. The former Ottawa Redblack had 29 receptions for 311 yards and a touchdown last year.

Earlier in the day the Alouettes signed former Hamilton Tiger-Cats backup QB Dan LeFevour.
