Matthews has eight points as Rush rout Roughnecks
Mark Matthews had an eight-point night -- including a hat trick -- as the Edmonton Rush dominated the Calgary Roughnecks 16-8 in National Lacrosse League action on Saturday. Riley Loewen and Jarrett Davis also had three-goal outings for the Rush (1-2) in their first win of the season. Zack Greer, Ben McIntosh and Robert Church chipped in with two goals while Cory Conway added the other.

CALGARY -- Mark Matthews had an eight-point night -- including a hat trick -- as the Edmonton Rush dominated the Calgary Roughnecks 16-8 in National Lacrosse League action on Saturday. Riley Loewen and Jarrett Davis also had three-goal outings for the Rush (1-2) in their first win of the season. Zack Greer, Ben McIntosh and Robert Church chipped in with two goals while Cory Conway added the other.
Curtis Dickson had a hat trick for Calgary (0-3), with Shawn Evans and Dane Dobbie adding a pair of goals apiece. Jeff Shattler rounded out the attack.
Aaron Bold kicked out 32 shots in the win. Mike Poulin started in net for the Roughnecks, stopping 21-of-35 shots in 50:07. Frankie Scigliano made seven saves in 9:53 of relief.
Edmonton converted three times on 10 chances while Calgary was 2 for 4.
