The projected top pick in the 2018 NBA Draft is out for the season.

Missouri announced on Tuesday that freshman forward Michael Porter Jr. would likely miss the remainder of the Tigers' season with a spinal injury that requires surgery

The 19-year-old Columbia, MO native will undergo a procedure - a microdiscectomy of his L3 and L4 spinal discs - later on Tuesday with a recovery time of three to four months.

Porter incurred a leg injury just two minutes into the Tigers' season-opening victory over Iowa State and has not played since.

A five-star recruit, Porter's father, Michael Porter Sr., also attended Missouri. Porter had been expected to declare for this June's NBA Draft.
