The Carolina Panthers have signed running back Jonathan Stewart to a one-year contract extension, extending his stay with the team through the 2018 season.

Stewart has spent his entire nine-year career with the Panthers after the team drafted him 13th overall in 2008.

“It means a lot. This is a special place,” Stewart said of his contract extension, in a team release. “The fans and the organization, they’ve always been good to me. We’re all here to win the ultimate prize. I’m just glad to be here.”

The 30-year-old finished with 824 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games last season. For his career, the Oregon product has 6,638 yards, which is second in Panthers team history, and 45 touchdowns on 1,501 carries, first in team history.
