SHAWINIGAN, Que. - Giovanni Fiore scored his first-career hat trick and extended his point streak to five games as the Shawinigan Cataractes downed the visiting Sherbrooke Phoenix 7-2 on Wednesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Gabriel Slight, Alexis D'Aoust, Christophe Lalonde and Pascal Aquin also scored for the Cataractes (32-22-3) while Dylan Labbe tacked on two assists.

Cameron Darcy and David Storto found the back of the net for the Phoenix (32-22-5).

Shawinigan's Marvin Cupper made 18 saves for the win. Alex Bureau started in net for Sherbrooke, but was pulled after allowing six goals on 20 shots through two periods of play. Evan Fitzpatrick started the third and stopped 11-of-12 shots in relief.

Phoenix defenceman Julien Bahl received a match penalty for checking to the head at 11:02 of the first period.

The Cataractes went 1 for 7 on the power play while Sherbrooke converted once on three chances with the man advantage.

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Anthony Beauregard struck twice and Etienne Monpetit made 27 saves as Val-d'Or toppled the Huskies for its sixth straight win.

Guillaume Archambault, Shawn St-Amant-Ouellette, Olivier Desjardins, Pierre-Maxime Poudrier and Alexis Pepin also scored for the Foreurs (28-22-8).

Mathieu Lemay, Allan Caron and Francis Perron supplied the offence for Rouyn-Noranda (27-27-4), which is on a five-game slide. Samuel Harvey allowed five goals on 21 shots before giving way to Jeremy Belisle, who stopped 4-of-6 shots in 12:17 of relief.
