Milos Raonic announced Saturday via Twitter that he'll be undergoing surgery to repair a pinched nerve in his right foot and hopes "to be ready to compete as soon as possible."

Raonic will have surgery on Monday or Wednesday in Europe and has withdrawn from the upcoming Internazionali BNL d'Italia tournament in Rome in order to heal.

The recovery time is estimated at a week-and-a-half to two weeks.

With the French Open two weeks away, his recovery time would be cutting it close but Raonic's camp remains hopeful he will be able to play at Roland Garros.

The injury is the same one that forced Raonic to retire in the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters last month.

The French Open starts May 24 from Roland Garros in Paris, France.

Raonic is currently ranked fourth in the world rankings and has a 19-8 record this season. The 24-year-old Canadian fell to Scotland's Andy Murray in the quarters of the Madrid Open Friday 4-6, 5-7.
