The Boston Celtics are attempting to create some salary cap flexibility.

ESPN Boston's Chris Forsberg reports that the Celtics are attempting to finalize a deal that would see centre Joel Anthony of Montreal shipped to the Detroit Pistons for veteran point guard Will Bynum.

Anthony, 32, has been with the Celtics since January, acquired in a trade after seven seasons with the Miami Heat. With the Celtics, Anthony found his minutes hard to come by and has not been frequently used in the preaseason.

A deal for Bynum would net the Celtics roughly $900K in cap room. Anthony is set to make $3.8 million this season to Bynum's $2.9 million salary.

Going undrafted out of UNLV in 2007, Anthony has won two NBA Titles with the Heat.
