The Denver Post is reporting that Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson was arrested at 1:20 am mt Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Lawson was reportedly speeding and admitted that he had been drinking. He was jailed at his request and did not have a valid identification.

The Nuggets had a team function on Thursday night that ended at 10 pm.

Lawson, 27, reportedly also admitted that he had been previously arrested for DUI in Missouri.

The Nuggets released a statement on Friday saying that they have no further comment at this time per team policy and out of respect for the legal process.

He is averaging 16.7 points and 9.9 assists per game, leading the team in both categories.

The team is hosting the Boston Celtics tonight and Lawson’s status for the game is unknown. Should he sit out, Jameer Nelson is likely to start at point guard.
