TORONTO -- Robert Church and Mark Matthews each had three goals and three assists on Saturday as the Edmonton Rush opened the National Lacrosse League final with a 15-9 win over the Toronto Rock.

The Rush lead the best-of-three series 1-0 with Game 2 taking place in Edmonton on Friday.

Jeremy Thompson, Zack Greer and Ben McIntosh all had a pair of goals for the Rush. Riley Loewen, Jarrett Davis and Adrian Sorichetti rounded out the attack.

Kevin Crowley and Kasey Beirnes struck twice for Toronto. Brock Sorensen, Colin Doyle, Rob Hellyer, Brett Hickey and Josh Sanderson supplied the rest of the offence.

Aaron Bold turned away 39 shots for the win. Brandon Miller suffered the loss after kicking out 23-of-35 shots in 38:20. Nick Rose made 16 saves in relief.

Edmonton scored twice on five power-play opportunities while the Rock were 2 for 3 with the man advantage.
