The Calgary Stampeders kicked off their off-season Friday signing a pair of special teams stalwarts.

The Stamps announced they signed national punter Rob Maver and national kicker Rene Parades through the 2018 season. Both special teamers were eligible to become free agents in February.

"Rob and Rene have been one of the best kicking tandems in the CFL for a number of years and have given us great production and stability at those positions," Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel said in a team release. "They've both been important contributors to the Stamps' success and I'm pleased they have chosen to remain in Calgary and be part of a team that I'm confident will once again be a championship contender in 2017."

Maver finished last year with a career-best 46.9-yard average on punts and has a career punting average of 45.4. Paredes finished last year with an 87.5% success rate on field goals and for his career, has connected on 86% of his attempts.

Maver has been with the Stamps since 2010 and Paredes since 2011. The two share five CFL All-Star selections.
