TSN Golf Insider Bob Weeks and TSN Golf Producer Jamie Reidel made their U.S. Open picks for the TSN Fantasy Golf presented by Freedom 55 Financial and offered up why they selected those golfers.

Pool No. 1

Bob – Jason Day
He’s the most complete player in the game right now with both ends of his game working. He’s driving the ball very well and has been one of the best putters on tour all season.

Jamie – Rory McIlroy
He proved that the change in putting grip will serve him well on the fast greens at Oakmont. He also hits his driver so well that as long as he keeps it in the fairway, he will be tough to beat.

Pool No. 2

Bob – Phil Mickelson
Phil’s game is rounding into shape as his performance in Memphis shows. He’s put so much into this week the only danger could be in wanting it too much.

Jamie – Rickie Fowler
His steady play will keep him out of trouble here. He’s fifth in Strokes Gained Off The Tee and third in Greens in Regulation which will both be vital commodities this week. In desperate need of a good finish to keep up with the Big Three.

Pool No. 3

Bob – Sergio Garcia
I love the maturity of Garcia and the discipline he’s put into his game. His win at the Byron Nelson shows that he is playing well and if he can keep his calm on what will be a frustrating course, he can be a factor.

Jamie – Matt Kuchar
Hasn’t been outside the top six in his last four tournaments. He is Mr. Consistency and that’s the type of game that gets it done at a U.S. Open.

Pool No. 4

Bob – Graeme McDowell

Has missed the cut in four of his last six starts, but a T9 at The Players and a solid performance at the BMW give me reason to think he’s turned the corner. Plus, his name is already on the trophy so he knows what it takes.

Jamie – Jimmy Walker
Among the longest drivers off the tee coupled with a stellar short game should make him a factor at Oakmont. Overdue for a good major performance.

Pool No. 5

Bob – Daniel Berger
Coming in off a win in Memphis, Berger is filled with confidence. He’s had a solid year with eight top-25 finishes and is poised for a good performance this week.

Jamie -- Chris Wood
His form coming in shows he’s playing some of the best golf of his career, especially after a win in the BMW and a T6 in Austria.

Pool No. 6

Bob – Patrick Rodgers
Probably the most talented player in this group although he’s had an inconsistent year so far. Still, seven top-25 finishes this year show me he has the talent to play well at Oakmont.

Jamie – Aaron Wise
Had a pretty good run of late. Won the NCAA individual title on a tough course and also won a Mackenzie Tour Q-School. One of the top-ranked amateurs in golf.
