HARTFORD, Conn. — Philip McRae had a goal and two assists to lead the Hartford Wolf Pack past the St. John's IceCaps 6-3 on Friday night in the American Hockey League regular season opener for both teams.

John Gilmour, Adam Tambellini, Marek Hrivik, Cristoval Nieves and Robin Kovacs supplied the rest of the offence for Hartford (1-0-0).

Charles Hudon, Max Friberg and Chris Terry scored for the IceCaps (0-1-0), who are the Montreal Canadiens' farm club.

Magnus Hellberg made 28 saves for the win in net while Zachary Fucale stopped 24 shots for St. John's.

The Wolf Pack, the AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, were 0 for 4 on the power play. The IceCaps converted once on four chances.
