WINNIPEG - Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak advanced to the quarter-finals of the Winnipeg ITF Futures tennis tournament Wednesday with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Ingrid Neel of the United States.

The former world No. 21 from Blainville, Que., converted on six of 11 break point chances as she continued her successful return to the court after an 11-month layoff.

The 27-year-old had not played since undergoing surgery on her right shoulder in September.

Wozniak next plays the winner of a match between Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands and Australia's Arina Rodionova.

In other women's matches today, fourth seed Lyudmyla Kichenok of Ukraine beat Nadja Gilchrest of the United States 6-2, 7-5.

In men's action, American qualifier Austin Gonzalez beat wild-card Joshua Peck of Calgary 6-2, 6-2.

Top seed Dimitar Kutrovsky of Bulgaria advanced with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Patrick Davidson of the United States.
