We have eight MLB games taking place Monday night, which means our pool of potential home run hitters is smaller than we normally deal with.

On Friday, our friends at BallParkPal projected 33.5 home runs, today that number is just 18.

Here is a look at all of the players tonight with multiple home runs against the starting pitcher they are facing.

MLB Home run challenge: Ohtani ready to roll

With five days left to pick a home run hitter I find myself both encouraged and frustrated by my process.

On Day 1, Bo Bichette had one of his best game’s as a Met with three hits and three runs batted in, but he didn’t hit a home run.

The next night, Kyle Tucker was robbed off a home run while going hitless.

But close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, so after sitting out the weekend I’m back looking to pick one player to hit a home run in MLB this evening.

Sticking with the Dodgers, I’m taking Shohei Ohtani to hit a home run Monday night.

Ohtani broke out of a mini 11-game home run drought on Sunday and leads off for the Dodgers against Chris Paddack and his 6.38 ERA tonight.

In six career plate appearances against Paddack, Ohtani has two hits and a home run and the 31-year-old has the highest home run probability today on the ballparkpal.com batter vs pitcher matchups model.

So I will trust that model and put day three of this challenge in the hands of the best baseball player to ever play the sport.
