No. 11 Chris Ackie – Defensive Back, Laurier 6’ 208lbs

The first team CIS All-Canadian jumped up one spot in the prospect rankings and it wasn’t hard to see why as he was a physical star at the CFL Combine.  He performed well in the 1-on-1 drills and showed great explosiveness setting a CFL Combine record with his near 11-foot broad jump.

Event Result
Bench Press (225lbs) 14
Vertical Jump 40"
Broad Jump 10'11.5"
40-Yard Dash 4.67
20-Yard Shuttle Run 4.40
Three-Cone Drill 7.09

NFL Prospects: No notable NFL Interest at this time.

CFL Prospects: Ackie tested at linebacker and as a defensive back at the CFL Combine. He presents an interesting dilemma for teams as he could either be a safety or linebacker in the CFL.  He is a unique talent in this year’s draft and teams may pick him high to make sure they get him. He’s likely a late first round or early second round pick.

No. 12 Addison Richards – Receiver, Regina 6’3 212lbs

Richards dropped three spots in the rankings and there seems to be a feeling that he didn’t perform well at the CFL Combine.  Given the positive reviews for receivers Lemar Durant, Nic Demski and Jake Harty, it appears Richards stock has dropped compared to the other prospects at his position.  There were also some reports that he didn’t interview well (having sat in on one of his interviews, I thought he handled himself well).

Event Result
Bench Press (225lbs) 14
Vertical Jump 34.5"
Broad Jump 9'7.5"
40-Yard Dash 4.63
20-Yard Shuttle Run 4.79
Three-Cone Drill 7.41

NFL Prospects: He played in NCAA Shrine Game where he had trouble against the better competition from the NCAA.  He’s not likely to sign as a free agent with an NFL team.

CFL Prospects: Despite what is being said, Richards posted solid numbers at the Combine.  While he may not have done as well overall as Demski or Durant, he is still a strong receiving prospect.  He may not be a first round pick but a team he could go some time in the second round.

No. 13 Jacob Ruby – Offensive Tackle, Richmond 6’6 312 lbs

While Ruby didn’t perform as well as fellow linemen Groulx and Sungh, he is still an intriguing prospect because of the position he plays. Playing left tackle, he wasn’t dominant in the 1-on-1’s but he showed good footwork and technique.  While not great in the physical testing, he does look like he has the potential to be a ratio changing pro.

Event Result
Bench Press (225lbs) 18
Vertical Jump 24.5"
Broad Jump 8'4"
40-Yard Dash 5.36
20-Yard Shuttle Run 4.98
Three-Cone Drill 8.27

NFL Prospects: No notable NFL interest at this time.

CFL Prospects: Ruby started 47 games at NCAA Division 2 Richmond and he is a potential wildcard in the draft. As a left tackle, he presents teams with a ratio changing player (playing in a position not normally occupied by a Canadian player).  He may not be able to play right away, but teams may choose him high to have such a unique player.  He could go high in Round 1 or possibly drop to Round 2.

No. 14 Byron Archambault – Linebacker, Montreal 5’11 243lbs

Archambault powered his way up three spots on the rankings and his performance at the Combine was a big reason why.  His 41 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press showed he has the strength to play at the next level. He also showed great agility posting the best combine time in the 20-yard shuttle, which may have impressed evaluators more than his bench number.

Event Result
Bench Press (225lbs) 41
Vertical Jump 32.5"
Broad Jump 9'3.5"
40-Yard Dash 4.83
20-Yard Shuttle Run 4.18
Three-Cone Drill 7.16

NFL Prospects: Archambault went to a regional NFL Combine so he is on the radar down South.  His strong performance in the agility drills at the CFL Combine could get him noticed by teams.

CFL Prospects: He appears to have the tools to play at the next level.  The RSEQ defensive player was a leader on the Carabins and those intangibles should be appealing to CFL teams.  He could go in the second or third round of the draft.

No. 15 Tevaughn Campbell – Defensive Back, Regina 5’10 186lbs

It took Tevaughn Campbell just under 4.36 seconds to become a Top 20 prospect in the CFL Draft; Campbell set a Combine record running the 40 in a time of 4.36 seconds (electronically timed).  That speed has made scouts in the CFL and NFL take notice.  And what scouts saw is a player who put up more than great combine numbers. The 2013 second team All-Canadian also showed he can play the game, getting the only interception in 1-on-1 drills at the CFL Combine.

Event Result
Bench Press (225lbs) 12
Vertical Jump 38.5"
Broad Jump 10'9.75"
40-Yard Dash 4.36
20-Yard Shuttle Run 4.5
Three-Cone Drill 7.35

NFL Prospects: Several NFL teams expressed interest in Campbell once word of his 40-time got out.  His speed got him noticed by NFL teams and could be enough to earn him a camp invite.

CFL Prospects: While his speed is amazing, Campbell’s performance in the 1-on-1’s may have helped him even more.  A Can West track champion, Campbell has the speed to play corner in the CFL. There’s an outside chance of him being a first round pick because of that great speed, but it’s more likely he drops to the second round.
