According to TSN Baseball Insider Steve Phillips, the Toronto Blue Jays will not be re-signing Edwin Encarnacion.

The Jays reportedly offered Encarnacion a four-year, $80 million contract earlier this off-season.

The Blue Jays signed utility hitter Steve Pearce earlier Monday, who could platoon with Justin Smoak at first base, and ultimately signaled the end of Encarnacion's time in Toronto.

Encarnacion's agent, Paul Kinzer, told Fox Sports' Jon Morosi his client was disappointed by the news.

Kinzer added the Jays' offer to Encarnacion came during the Jays' exclusive period to negotiate with Encarnacion before free agency opened.

If this signals the end for Encarnacion in Toronto, the 33-year-old will finish third on the Blue Jays’ all-time home run list with 239, and sixth on the team’s all-time RBI list with 679.
