With Mercedes Formula 1 team boss Toto Wolff watching on, Canadian and team Mercedes driver Robert Wickens nailed down his third career DTM victory at the Norisring in Germany on Sunday.

Wickens wasn't the only Canadian on top of the podium, in this race, Quebec native and BMW driver Bruno Spengler who started on pole, finished third. The 2012 DTM Champion had a great start, while Wickens who qualified third moved up to second place in the opening laps, and was ridding in a close second place for the first half of the race.

Wickens hounded his country men till lap 14, when the Guelph Ontario native muscled his way down the inside at Grundig-Kehre hairpin taking the lead from Spengler.

Wickens quickly opened up a lead recording the fastest lap of the race gaping second place Christian Vietoris by more than 7 seconds.

Spengler dropped back to fourth place and remained there till the closing laps, when the 31 year old made a spectacular late breaking manoeuvre forcing his way past Mattias Ekstrom for third place.

The win moves Wickens up to fifth in the championship standings with 12 races left.

"If we can keep on doing this every weekend we'll be laughing and keeping smiles on our faces" said Wickens. "Unfortunately we know this is a good track for us, hopefully we can keep this momentum going to Zandvoort, but we have to remember to keep our feet on the ground, and keep moving forward."
