Two days after being cut by the San Francisco 49ers, Shawn Lemon is returning to the CFL.

The International defensive end spent the past two seasons with the Calgary Stampeders before he was released to pursue National Football League opportunities in January.

Lemon, 27, signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in January, but was released in early August. He then signed with the Niners on August 8 before being cut on Monday.

A product of Akron, the Charleston, South Carolina native started all 18 games for the Grey Cup champion Stampeders a year ago. He had 13 sacks, eight forced fumbles and five tackles for a loss. Lemon also added 31 total tackles and an interception. He was the Week 15 Defensive Player of the Week.

Lemon has also spent time with the Edmonton Eskimos and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Redblacks, 5-4, sit third in the East Division. The team has a Week 11 bye and is next in action on September 13 when they visit the BC Lions.
