LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Dodgers starter Carlos Frias has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with lower back tightness, although the right-hander isn't expected to be there too long.

Frias had been scheduled to start Monday when Philadelphia comes to town for the start of a four-game series. He had experienced lower back stiffness in his past two starts, and only went five innings in both.

Manager Don Mattingly said Sunday he isn't too concerned that Frias will be out long because an MRI showed no structural damage. He declined to say who would start Monday. Frias' DL stint is retroactive to July 1.

Frias is 5-5 with a 4.39 ERA in 14 games, including 12 starts. He hasn't gone beyond 5 1-3 innings in his past four starts.

The Dodgers recalled left-hander Daniel Coulombe from Triple A-Oklahoma City. He has a 4.03 ERA in 19 games in the minors this season.
