The Los Angeles Dodgers have joined in the arms race prior to Friday's Major League Baseball non-waiver trade deadline.

Both players were in their first seasons with the Marlins.

Latos, 27, came over from the Cincinnati Reds in an offseason trade. In 16 starts for the Marlins this season, Latos is 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA and a 1.245 WHIP in 88.1 innings pitched. The native of Alexandria, Virginia is a free agent at the end of the season.

Morse returns to the west coast after winning the World Series last year with the San Francisco Giants. The 32-year-old Morse is hitting .214 with four home runs and 12 RBI and an OBP of .277 in 52 games this season. He is in the first year of a two-year, $16 million pact.

The Dodgers currently sit atop the National League West standings, a half-game up on the Giants. They conclude a two-game set with the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday evening.
