Esks hold at No. 1 in CFL Power Rankings

The Edmonton Eskimos continue to lead the TSN.ca CFL Power Rankings, ahead of the Calgary Stampeders, but there are changes beyond the top two teams.

With a surging offence, the Ottawa Redblacks have climbed into third spot, effectively switching places with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The Toronto Argonauts avoided dropping this week, which was surprising following a blowout loss, but if Ricky Ray is ready to play, that could be a late-season boost.

Adarius Bowman started slowly this season, held under 50 yards in five of his first 11 games, but he's gained a lot of ground in the past couple of games, putting up 406 yards with 23 catches.

Key Injuries: RB John White (Achilles), G Simeon Rottier (knee), WR Shamawd Chambers (knee), G Greg Wojt (concussion).

Calgary Stampeders

With Jon Cornish still not cleared to return to action, Calgary's acquisition of Jerome Messam looms larger down the stretch. If he continues to provide the power running game that he did for Saskatchewan, then the Stamps won't miss a beat.

Key Injuries: DT Corey Mace (foot), T Edwin Harrison (leg), DB Joe Burnett (ankle), MLB Juwan Simpson (clavicle), RB Jon Cornish (neck), T Dan Federkeil (leg), DB Fred Bennett (arm).

Ottawa Redblacks

The Redblacks are surging with a prolific offence, guided by QB Henry Burris, who is complemented by RB William Powell, who has gone for more than 100 yards from scrimmage in three straight games, and deep threat Chris Williams, who has put up at least 90 yards receiving in five of the past six games.

Key Injuries: MLB Travis Brown (shoulder).

Toronto Argonauts

No movement after a 34-2 loss? Well, this is based on the return of Ricky Ray to the Argos lineup. There is some presumption that Ray is healthy enough to play at his typical level, and if he is, then he is an upgrade on Trevor Harris, who has had a great year.

Key Injuries: SB Andre Durie (knee).

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Wiped out in B.C., the Ticats did get RB C.J. Gable back in the lineup for only the third time all season, but when the Ticats turned the ball over three times, that sealed their fate.

Key Injuries: DT Brian Bulcke (knee), DT Linden Gaydosh (Achilles), DE Eric Norwood (undisclosed), DB Johnny Sears Jr. (undisclosed) and S Mike Daly (undisclosed), QB Zach Collaros (knee).

Montreal Alouettes

An impressive win over Toronto, with QB Kevin Glenn in a starring role, does make the Alouettes a threat in the final couple of weeks, though a trip to Edmonton this week is certainly a daunting task for a team trying to battle for a playoff spot.

Key Injuries: DE Aaron Lavarias (arm), WR James Rodgers (undisclosed), QB Dan LeFevour (shoulder), LB Bear Woods (pectoral), QB Rakeem Cato (concussion).

B.C. Lions

What to make of the Lions? They've stumbled along for much of the season, but took the Eskimos to overtime in Edmonton a couple of weeks ago and then routed Hamilton. Are they putting it all together at just the right time, or were these just a couple of fortuitous performances?

Key Injuries:  None.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Bombers have lost four of five, but they've been very close -- the total margin of defeat in the four losses was 13 points, and that includes last week's seven-point loss to Ottawa. Take a break this week before getting a shot at the Argos in the final week of the season.

Key Injuries:  QB Drew Willy (knee), RB Paris Cotton (arm).

Saskatchewan Roughriders

It's been a long season for the Riders, but they have lots of time to audition for next season, which means Brett Smith gets reps at quarterback, RB Anthony Allen takes over at running back after Jerome Messam was traded, and WR Naaman Roosevelt becomes a bigger part of the passing game.

Key Injuries:  QB Darian Durant (Achilles), ILB Shea Emry (neck).
