TSN basketball analyst Jack Armstrong delivers five thoughts on the recent strong play of Houston's Clint Capela, the Raptors' Norman Powell, the Clippers' Marreese Speights, and more.

1. CLINT CAPELA (Rockets): This late first-round pick was a steal. Now coming into his own in Houston for coach Mike D'Antoni, he's averaging 11.5 ppg and 8.8 rpg while shooting 61 per cent with close to two blocks per game. Style of play helps him. He runs well and is quick. Love his energy. Nice development for him and his team. Good young player. Look forward to seeing him play the Raptors in Houston.

2. NORMAN POWELL (Raptors): I'm really impressed how he's handled his role this season. Sometimes he's in and sometimes he's not. Playing behind DeMar DeRozan, DeMarre Carroll and Terrence Ross as the fourth wing, he has still been dependable with his defence, effort, toughness and improved offence. He's relentless and professional. He'll get his chances on many nights and he's always prepared to play. Really respect his approach. Great attitude. Winner.

3. MARREESE SPEIGHTS (Clippers): Really nice pick-up for this squad. The man can score. Has a terrific face up game with nice scoring touch. Solid range with quick release. Has nose for the ball on the glass. Below average defender but he makes up for it with his hustle plays and offensive play. Sound second-unit piece.

4. SERGIO RODRIGUEZ (Sixers): Nice addition to their team averaging 8 ppg and 7 apg. Delivers the ball to teammates and gets everyone involved. Plays hard and has sound court awareness. Team is playing better and adding players like him improve the overall skill level and Hoops IQ to your squad.

5. GARRETT TEMPLE (Kings): I liked him in Washington and like him in Sacramento. Won't wow you with numbers (averaging less than 6 ppg) but he's long, quick, athletic and will get into you and guard you. I like his compete level and grit. There's a sound, winning approach to his play. The Wizards miss him and the Kings are starting to figure out his on-court value.
