Jones was stripped of the title last April, and suspended indefinitely, after turning himself into the police on a felony charge stemming from a hit and run incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Jones last bout was a five round title defence victory over Cormier at UFC 182 in January of 2015.

Cormier defeated Anthony Johnson for the vacant belt at UFC 187 and has subsequently defended the belt once, a split decision win over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192.

Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will also defend his title against Henry Cejudo in the co-main event of UFC 197.

Johnson is the only flyweight champion in UFC history and has successfully defended his title seven times since defeating Joseph Benavidez to earn the belt at UFC 152.
