How hard is it to get back on track after injuries like the ones Travis Lulay has sustained the past couple years?

Trust me when I say this, Travis Lulay has not and will not forget how to play this game! When healthy, he's exactly what you look for in a quarterback. He's a student of the game, maybe the hardest worker on the team, loves the mental challenge the game provides, and attacks it like a true pro on a regular basis. He's tough as nails, strong, and athletic; and with all these incredible traits the coolest one of them all is his humility.

Travis is a leader and his team needs him to do just that. Only problem is Travis is working with a throwing shoulder that has seen better days.He will lead whether he's on the field or on the sidelines. The Lions prefer him on the field but sometimes that's just in the cards.

If Travis is actually 100% healthy and back to his 2011 CFL MOP mode, he would dominate, impose his will on opposing defences, and tear up the league, guaranteed! But in the game of football there are no such things!

You can bet on the Lions new head coach, Jeff Tedford, to have all of his pivots ready to play some football. Who that may be is a bit of a crap shoot right now. At the time of writing this assessment - Day 3 of training camp - it's early and who knows.

But in the CFL you don't have the luxury of time during training camp. Every rep counts for John Beck (Brigham Young, 41 CFL pass attempts), who's been ill this training camp, Travis Partridge (Missouri Western, 0 passing attempts in the CFL), Greg McGhee (Howard, zero attempts) and Jonathon Jennings (Saginaw Valley State, nada).

At this point you might be thinking, with Tedford’s propensity for offensive football, a guy like Kevin Glenn would be a great fit. Nope, not in the cards as the 14-year vet is back where it all started for him in 2001, Saskatchewan. Water under the bridge!

Word is Jonathon Jennings is heating up!

Patience is going to be in order for all Lions fans. This may prove to be difficult as the team underachieved last year, but wholesale changes have been made with the coaching staff that is trying to establish a new culture. New culture, but same fragile shoulder for the Lions No. 1 pivot and leader heading into the 2015 season.
