The BC Lions placed quarterback Travis Lulay on the six-game injured list Friday afternoon.

The 31-year-old suffered a grade-2 MCL sprain in a win over the Montreal Alouettes on September 3 and is expected to miss the next 3-6 weeks.

"It's been a bit sore and stuff but for this stage of what happened, it's doing alright," Lulay told Bro Jake and Dave Pratt on TSN Radio 1040 on Monday morning.

"Typically, they say it's in the 3-6 week range for this kind of injury to heal up, so I'm hoping for the short end of that spectrum."

Lulay suffered a knee injury in Thursday's win in Montreal. He was injured midway through the first quarter as Alouettes linebacker Kyries Hebert took him down from behind after he had scrambled out of the pocket.

It was initially suspected that Lulay suffered a torn medial collateral ligament. The 2011 CFL's most outstanding player returned to Vancouver with the team and underwent an MRI test Friday afternoon.

Lulay also told Bo and Jake that he believes 34-year-old John Beck has all the tools to lead this team while he is out.

After Lulay was hurt on Thursday, Beck completed 14 of 22 passes and threw for a modest 114 yards and two touchdown passes against the Als. He also threw two interceptions, including one that was returned for a touchdown.

B.C.'s next game is at home against the Ottawa Redblacks on Sept. 13.
