The B.C. Lions have acquired an extra pick for next week's CFL Draft.

The Lions traded Canadian wide receiver S.J. Haidara to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for a fifth-round pick (43rd overall) on Wednesday.

The Lions also received the rights to DT Andre Monroe of Maryland, who was on Hamilton’s negotiation list.

Haidara was drafted by the Lions in the second round of the 2013 CFL Draft. He had just seven receptions for 77 yards in two seasons with the Lions.

“With the depth we have at the receiver position and Hamilton’s desire to acquire S.J., this trade enables us to add a valuable selection to our list of picks heading into the CFL Draft,” Lions general manager Wally Buono said in a statement.

The CFL Draft will take place Tuesday, May 12.
