HELSINKI - Auston Matthews scored twice and added two assists to lead the United States to a 10-1 laugher over Switzerland on Wednesday at the world junior hockey championship.

Matthew Tkachuk, Christian Dvorak, Zach Werenski and Colin White all had three-point games at Helsinki Ice Hall. The Americans improved to 2-1 and leapfrogged Canada into second place in Group A.

The Canadians, who had the day off, are also 2-1 but have one less point because only one of their victories came in regulation time. Sweden (3-0) has wrapped up first place with nine points, three more than the Americans.

Nick Schmaltz, Ryan Donato and Brandon Carlo also scored for the U.S. Timo Meier had the lone goal for Switzerland (0-3-1), which is last in Group A with one point.
