Pittsburgh Penguins centres Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will miss the NHL All-Star Game game due to lower-body injuries.

Crosby has been playing with the injury and will need about a week to heal. As a result of missing the All-Star Game, Crosby will not be eligible to play in the Penguins' first game after the break against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.

Nashville Predators winger Filip Forsberg has already been named as Malkin's replacement.

Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky will also miss the All-Star game in his home arena due to a lower-body injury.

St. Louis Blues netminder Brian Elliott was named to be his replacement in Columbus.

Bobrovsky has registered a 16-15-2 record with a 2.85 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage with one shutout in 33 games this season.

The 26-year old, who left Wednesday's game against the the Winnipeg Jets with the injury, missed three weeks due to a fractured finger earlier this season.

Malkin was apparently hurt in Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers. He was able to finish that game but could not play Wednesday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 28-year old is tied for the team scoring lead with Sidney Crosby at 51 points (19 goals, 32 assists) in 45 games this season for the Penguins.

Malkin has not played a full 82-game season since 2008-09.

Elliott, 29, has a 13-5-2 record and leads the NHL with a 1.86 goals-against average and is fourth with a .930 save percentage with three shutouts in 22 games this season.

Forsberg, 20, has 15 goals and 25 assists for 40 points in 45 games this season with a plus/minus rating of +24.
