HALIFAX - Nikolaj Ehlers scored 16:59 into the first overtime as the Halifax Mooseheads beat the Shawinigan Cataractes 3-2 on Tuesday in Game 7 of their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series.

Halifax will play the Moncton Wildcats in the QMJHL's quarter-finals.

Philippe Gadoury scored with 2:03 left in the third period to force extra time for the Mooseheads, while Maxime Fortier had a goal in the first period. Eric Brassard made 36 saves for the win.

Dennis Yan and Olivier Caouette replied for Shawinigan, while Marvin Cupper stopped 44 shots.

Neither team could score on the power play. Halifax went 0 for 1, while the Cataractes were 0 for 2 with the man advantage.

QUEBEC CITY — Adam Erne had back-to-back goals and added an assist as the Remparts routed Cape Breton in Game 7 of their playoff series.

Erne scored early in the third and added an empty-net goal later in the period as Quebec reeled off six-straight goals. Dmytro Timashov, Jerome Verrier, Massimo Carozza and Ryan Graves also scored for the Remparts.

Jacob Smith and Clark Bishop gave the Screaming Eagles a 2-0 lead and Kyle Farrell tacked on a goal with five seconds left to play. Alexandre Belanger stopped 35-of-40 shots in Cape Breton's net.

Quebec will play the Charlottetown Islanders in the next round of the playoffs.
