Former Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers pass rusher Greg Hary is making a career change.

Hardy told MMAFighting.com he is transitioning to mixed martial arts fighting and has already received interest from several promotions.

"I'm very focused and excited to start my MMA career," Hardy said in a statement provided to the website. "I'm going to do this the right way, I can assure you of that."

Hardy has reportedly been training for several months in the Dallas area. He was not re-signed by the Cowboys after making six sacks in 12 games last season.

The 28-year-old, who was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013, has a history of domestic violence and was suspended 19 games from 2014-15 by the league for off-field actions.

Hardy was arrested on a cocaine possession charge last month. He received interest from the Jacksonville Jaguars and Saskatchewan Roughriders in July, but was not signed by either team.
