Former Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best’s NFL career ended in disappointment due to concussions, but the 27-year-old is just beginning an exciting second career.

Best will be the first former NFLer to participate in the summer Olympic Games when he competes for St. Lucia in the 100 metres, according to a report from NBC Sports.

"This is a huge accomplishment for me, but at the same time this is just the beginning," Best said, according to the NBC Sports report. "I have only been in this sport for two years professionally, and plan on being around for a long time."

Best was born in California, but his father holds dual citizenship in St. Lucia and the United States, according to a report from ESPN.
