The Toronto Blue Jays could turn to a former American League East rival for some pitching help.

Fiers, 30, has started 19 games for the Brewers this season. He's 5-7 with a 3.79 ERA and a WHIP of 1.355. Fiers has struck out 106 batters and walked 40. In his last start on Friday, Fiers surrendered only three hits and struck out seven over seven innings of work in a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Nova Southeastern University product's contract status would be particularly attractive to Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos, but acquiring Fiers could prove to be a challenge.

The Jays announced on Sunday that pitcher Aaron Sanchez will come ou of the bullpen and not start when he returns from the disabled list later this month.
