Five months after a failed medical scuppered his move north, Jay Bruce could still yet wind up with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball reports that the Jays remain interested in the Cincinnati Reds' right fielder with less than a month remaining before the Major League Baseball non-waiver trade deadline.

Bruce, 29, was to be acquired in February as part of a three-way trade that would have seen Michael Saunders join the Los Angeles Angels. Concerns stemming from the medical of one of the players involved quashed the trade.

Much like Saunders is enjoying a resurgence in Toronto, Bruce is bouncing back with the Reds after a poor campaign in 2015.

The native of Beaumont, Texas is batting .268 with 18 home runs and 62 runs batted in over 80 games. His slugging percentage (.546), OBP (.317) and OPS (.863) are all up dramatically from a season ago.

The Jays aren't the only team looking at the two-time All-Star. The Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Indians could all bid for his services.

Though Bruce has a partial no-trade clause, he told Mark Sheldon of MLB.com last week that he would consider waiving it to play for a contender.

"I would consider waiving the no-trade clause for all types of reasons," Bruce said. "There's no blanket reason I wouldn't. I'm open to all possibilities, but it would be situation to situation. If I am moved, which has seemed likely for the last year and a half, I'd like to go where the team is mostly likely to win. Teams that want me are likely seeking somebody to help them win."

Bruce's NTC blocks moves to eight teams: the Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks, Minnesota Twins, Miami Marlins and the Indians.

He has one year and $13 million remaining on his current deal with the Reds following this season.
