With first place in the East on the line in Ottawa on Saturday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats may not have quarterback Jeff Mathews in the lineup.

Mathews, who missed practice on Tuesday, took a hit to the head late in Sunday's loss to the Ottawa Redblacks and underwent concussion testing.

The Tiger-Cats signed quarterback Mitchell Gale on Tuesday, and he joined the team for practice.

Zach Collaros, who was a Most Outstanding Player candidate early in the season, saw his season come to an end in September when he suffered a torn ACL.

The Tiger-Cats need to beat the Redblacks by at least six points to retake first place and earn a first-round bye in the playoffs.
