Chris Matthews was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday, ending his second season with the team.

Matthews joined the Seahaks in February, 2014 and posted a career-high four receptions and 109 yards in Super Bowl XLIX against the New England Patriots. In nine games with the Seahawks this season, he posted four receptions for 54 yards. 

Matthews had 81 receptions for 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2012. In 2013, he had 14 catches for 138 yards and one touchdown with the team.

The Seahawks signed wide receiver Kevin Smith from the team's practice squad in a corresponding move.
