The Grey Cup champion-Calgary Stampeders have signed quarterback and 2014 Grey Cup MVP Bo Levi Mitchell to a contract extension that will keep him with the Red and White through the 2018 season.

Mitchell had one year remaining on a deal signed after the 2013 season.

"Bo Levi has set the bar very high for himself after his performance last season but with his ability and determination, I believe he has room to grow and improve even more," said head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. "The team has made a long-term commitment to Bo Levi and I'm pleased that he has made a long-term commitment to the Stampeders. This signing provides stability for the team at a crucial position."

In his third season with the Stamps, the 25-year-old native of Katy, Texas was instrumental in the Stamps claiming their second Grey Cup in seven seasons.

Going undrafted out of Eastern Washington, Mitchell signed as a free agent with the Stamps in 2012, but broke out as a significant contributor midway through the 2013 season.

"I'd like to thank Huff and the organization for making this commitment to me," said Mitchell. "I feel like I'm just getting started here and so I wanted to make the same commitment to the Stampeders. I thank Dave and Huff so much for everything they've done for me since I arrived in Calgary in 2012 and I'm excited for the future as we build on what we accomplished together last year."

In 17 games last season, Mitchell threw for 3,389 yards on 264 completions with 22 touchdown passes to eight interceptions and a 98.3 QB rating. He also ran for 232 yards and four TDs.
