The Calgary rink led by skip Pat Simmons is parting ways at season's end, the team announced Wednesday.

In the website post, lead Nolan Thiessen writes that he and second Carter Rycroft will be "taking a step back from competing and focusing on other areas of life," next season while vice John Morris continues to focus on his recovery from hernia repair surgery.

Skip Simmons, meanwhile, will be on the market as a free-agent.

The foursome has been together for two full seasons after their former skip Kevin Koe left the squad in 2014, a season in which they won the Brier. They brought in Morris the following year to be the new captain, but after early struggles at the Brier in Calgary as Team Canada, Simmons took over the reins and led his group to a second consecutive Canadian championship. Team Simmons returned to the Brier this year in the nation's capital representing Canada again, but failed to make the playoffs.

The 41-year-old Simmons will likely be the most prized curler without a team this offseason.
