,The dreams of a three-peat are over after Team SoloMid swept Counter Logic Gaming 3-0 in the semifinals of the North American League Championship Series Summer playoffs.
A near flawless 17-1 regular season carried over into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed advanced without a scratch. With the win, TSM also clinched a spot at the World Championships.
Mid laner Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg led the way with a 17/3/11 KDA in three matches.
The series kicked off with a spell of controversy after Game 1 had to be remade due to a visual bug nearly 10 minutes into the series opener.
Bjergsen claimed to be seeing the the orbiting stars of Jae-Hyun “Huhi” Choi’s Aurelion Sol even though the champion wasn’t there. He claimed it cost him an early kill.
The result was a restart and Aurelion Sol was banned from the series.
The loss of the champion was a blow to CLG and TSM took full advantage in three straight wins.
TSM moves on to face Cloud9, who upset No. 2 Immortals in their semifinal matchup.
