OTTAWA - The main event of UFC Ottawa will feature friends turned opponents Rory MacDonald and Stephen Thompson and could very well be the stepping stone to the next title shot in the welterweight division. But which highly rated fighter will have his hand raised when the dust settles on Saturday night?

Some of the fighters involved with the card, including one former champion who will be in one of the main event corners, weighed in on who they think will leave Ottawa with the victory.

Patrick Cote

"I love Thompson, every time he beats someone in style I look good because I took him to a decision. At the same time Rory is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, it's going to be interesting to see how he reacts after a big war like (the Robbie Lawler fight). The style of Stephen Thompson is very complicated, so he's going to have to adjust himself very quickly to that style."

Joanne Calderwood

"I've trained with Rory and he was one of my favourite fighters before coming to Tristar and now getting to train with him has been good. Obviously I've seen Wonderboy and his style is cool, so it's tough to call, but at the same time I'm sticking with Rory, I've seen him training and I know he's on the right path. I know it's going to be an awesome fight."

Donald Cerrone

"I wouldn't mind fighting the winner of that little fiasco, why not? I like to fight man, I like people that like to throw down and either one of those would be a great fight."

Chad Laprise

"It's going to be crazy, it's going to be unreal, I'm super excited for the fight. Rory is a teammate of mine, he's unbelievable and if Wonderboy was fighting anyone else I'd be cheering for him. They're both at the top of their game and obviously I'm going to go with my boy Rory, but it's going to be an amazing fight and I can't wait to see it."

Chris Weidman

"Rory is a really tough dude that is well rounded and he's obviously trouble for anyone. The difference in this fight is that no matter how many people MacDonald has brought in to emulate Wonderboy, he's going to see and feel a different style and person than he's ever felt before.

"It's going to take a lot for him to understand the range, speed and unorthodox striking that Wonderboy brings in. Rory is amazing but he has a traditional style; Wonderboy is very different and very unique."
